battery question?
20 Aug 2009 21:35 - 20 Aug 2009 21:35
I am building a cafe racer as some of you may know. I want ot know what is the smallest battery that I can buy that will still crank a gpz 750 over. I plan on putting this battery under the seat of my cafe I don't have a ton of room.

I'd suggest going to the Yuasa battery website and look at what they've got to offer. You will need what is called CCA or cold cranking amperes to start the engine.
If you have a high compression or run FI then it becomes more complex to figure out.
Finding the max cca in a small package might be difficult.

Another thought: Run the largest cable you can to where the battery will mount for maximum current flow. I'd suggest 6 or even 4 gauge welding cable because it's very flexible. It comes in two colors; RED and BLACK. I'd imagine a battery shop could swage/crimp on the correct sized terminals on the cables.

yeah that was what i was thinking the ytz is a small sized battery might be a tight fit. I have some 4 gauge wire that I'm gonna use I should be able to put ends on it myself. the ytz is rated at like 190 cca what is the zx750 battery supposed to be rated at 12 cca?
