Hey guys it's great to finally be here!!! I made the mistake of dismanteling my 81 440 ltd 1 all the way to the frame for my very first self customized paint job. All went surpriseingly well untill i lost my wireing harness. My uncle has accepted the challenge of rebuilding all the electrical system with the help of the book with the diagram i bought. My problem is, while everything seems to be correctly scquenced with streight 12 volts going into the coil I can't get any power at all out of the coil. Do I simply need to replace the coil? I also need to mention that the entire system was running very well before i took it apart. Please help. Thank you soo much i miss my bike!!!

Hi Mary,

If the bike was running before you took it apart it's not likely that the coil has failed in the meantime. Have you tried to find a harness on E-Bay? Even if you don't end up using it, it may show you something that you and your uncle have over looked.

Does your bike hace the Kawasaki electronic ignition or the standard points? If electronic, your Uncle may have to wire in the IC Igniter(it actually gives the coil(s) their ground firing the ignition system.

If points, check the wiring under the point cover.
