1983 GPZ1100A2 warning light?
16 Jun 2009 10:39
The red warning light stays on without blinking. No other flashing LCD's. Is this a valid state, or a malfunction of the CPU or harness?
Thanks

The warning light is one of the indicator lights in the cluster at the ignition key, next to the right turn indicator light.
Book says its only supposed to "go on and off" (flash) along with a warning indicator light within the LCD panel fuel gauge and warner unit, not stay lit. I have no LCD lights flashing.
Yes, bike runs. Here is the full story:
Throttle sticks on high (when throttles appear to be closed).
Killed a TPS (was working).
Dies when at idle or even low speed moving.
Red warning lite can stay on without flashing.
LCD pod can freek out or loose all display.
Is it all electrical? An electrical connection somewhere?
This is on the '84 1100.
Bike has a new 1170 kit with pod filters. Hasn't been ridden for 10 yrs.
My inline pump shows 32psi and won't rise if I blip the throttle.
Cleaned fuel system, tank, injectors. Injectors spray well.
Engine is smooth running.
Adjusted AF to about 12.3 at idle.

Dis-connect the TPS, and spray up inside with some good electrical contact cleaner(Not WD-40!!!!) Open and close the throttle several times to remove the loose carbon build up and spray again, letting it dry before re-connection the wires.
Check the fuel return line on the bottom of the tank for sticking. It can affect the fuel pressure and make your bike run rich too.
Have you run any fuel system cleaner like Berryman's B-12 or Seafoam? Having a low fuel pressure makes me think either the regulator is having problems or a vacuum line has developed cracks. I'd start looking at all vacuum related lines and fittings.
I have an 82 GPZ1100 B2 with a similar set up. My fuel pressure at idle is 33 PSI and as soon as the throttle is opened it goes up to 35 PSI.

If the dash warning light being referred to is the "brake light failure warning indicator" that's supposed to glow steady red during application of a brake, and it's staying lit even when no brake is being applied, then the rear brake switch (or its associated spring) might need adjusting or repairing or replacing.
Good Luck!
