battery tender short??

Hey guys,

I was wondering if you guys could help me troubleshoot. This is for my 76 kz900. I have the battery tender "pigtails" hooked up to the battery, so that its a quick connect and disconnect, however sometimes the battery just dies on me. First noticed it when raining, then tried today and it was as dead as a doornail. Wondering if since the ground on the pigtail is exposed, this could be my problem.

Have yet to check out the rectifier, but will do that shortly.

Thanks!

I'd think if the pigtail had a short, You'd see a lot of smoke and/or fire. Most bike batteries are 16 amp/hour ratings, I think it would do a simulation of a welder if there was a short circuit.

I suspect your battery is dying and won't hold a charge.
Fully charge it and have it load tested at the bike shop.
