engine cut off

Hi, bike 1983 gt(kz) 550 shaft.
the neutral switch fine, kick stand switch fine, but I have to pull in the clutch lever for the motor to turn, what am I missing? Wiz.

Possibly nothing. looking at my Kz1000 manual, under Mint. electrical, clutch switch provides power after ign sw/fuse/kill sw.to starter sol. G

You can bypass the clutch switch by tracing back the wiring into the headlight housing. Splice the wires together and you won't have to pull in the clutch to start it(this was an early safety feature on the 80's bikes).

On my XJ (wash my mouth out) you pull the clutch to start only if in gear, but if the GT is as nature intended, I'm sweet, Thanks, Wiz.
