no start & extra connector(

Hey everyone,

So i finally had some time to re-assemble the bike (1980 KZ750H) that i got about a month ago (P.O. disassembled it to have it repainted, but ended up buying a new bike).

I started connecting everything with high hopes, but ended up with an extra connector ?!?! It comes off the main wiring harness.
It's a 4 pin female connector, with a red, green, black and yellow/black wires. I have no clue where it goes, and there is no extra connector :S.

On another note, the bike doesn't even turn over. I did pull in the clutch to start it. There's no nothing. P.O. said that it was running last fall, so am guessing that all the components should be fine, maybe i didn't wire everything correctly.

Thanks for the help!

that looks like the trigger wire from the ignition to the ignition box if i'm not mistaken where is your ignition box and is it hooked up and is your plate hooked up also.

oh man!
thanks, it was the connector for the ignitor.
The male end was hidden behind another wire. . . argh...

What did u mean by connecting it to the "plate" though ?

I connected it, but still no start. . . . .

edit...

The headlights or turn signals don't work either for some reason. When I received it, I connected to battery to see if it was working, and the headlights and neutral light worked. But now, only the neutral light works.

I'd check the main fuse block for faulty or bad fuses and look at the fuse clips for corrosion.

The older glass tubed fuses can fail and look o.k. Remove them one at a time checking with either a continuity light of a multi meter set on OHMS.

I suspect the plug with the wires wind up going to the ignition coils somehow.

So ya, I only observed the fuses by eye, and not with a multimeter. I thought they were good, but when i checked the resistance, they were dead.
Switched em out, and now the engine turns over :cheer:

Just gotta put some gas in it. That'll have to wait for tomorrow.

Thanks a bunch!

da_wun, welcome to the KZR Nation.

Strange to have another KZ650 member from Montreal. What area are you in? What colour is your bike?

Best of success. :)

Thanks !

It's actually a KZ750 =P....

And the P.O. repainted it, to a nice burgundy colour
(blah X.X)

And no, unfortunately it didn't fire up. She cranks now though, and the headlights are working. For some reason though, there has to be a connection with the electro-bracket (left side) and the frame, or else nothing works. I think there's a ground connection missing, but i can't find it.

I gotta check if there's a spark; haven't had the chance to really check anything. Exam and assignments due this week.

I'll only be able to work on her this weekend :(
