KZ100P17 Headlight failure
03 Jan 2009 08:59
My KZ100P17 headlights went out one morning on the way to work. They were working ok, and the just winked out. The position lights, tail light, and id lights are off too, but they come on when the ign switch is in the park position. The fuses check ok. The turn signals and brake lights are ok. Any ideas?

Check the fuse with an ohm meter or continuity light as they can fail internally and still look good. Take the fuse out of the clips and rotate it under a strong light. The solder may have melted on the end(s).
If the fuse checks good then look at the related connections and wiring. If this bike has a "Reserve Lighting" devise or system check the connections too.
The reserve sytem is housed in a small black box with I believe has 6 wires coming out of it. The operation is supposed to automatically switch to another headlight beam if one fails. Check the bulb and connections as they have been known to get corrosion also.
