KZ1000 engine help

Hi all. I am new here. I was given what I think is a 1979 KZ1000 engine. I am having a hard time finding the engine numbers so I can track down the year. It is going into a "GOkart" I did not want to go too far with the build till I can get a wiring diagram and get it running.
I have enclosed a picture of my last project and now want to go all out with something new. Thanks for your help in advance.

biggest wiring differance is going to be the charging system.look at the dyno cover if it is finned with kawasaki stamped in it chances are its newer style 79 -80,also look at the head if its got smog ports cast into valve cover its probably newer 79-80 atleast.if it has 1015 cast into front botem corner of cylinder its -80 if it has 998 its 81 or newer j motor.what are the numbers on cases above clutch cover?
