Lost my only key.

So I dont know what happened to the only key my KZ came with.. And I am kinda worried that im going to have to replace the ignition column. But I hear I can find the serial number and have a new key made.. Where could I have that done, and where would I find the serial no. for my 77 KZ650?

Take the ignition cylinder out and go to a locksmith with $50.00.

If he is up to the challenge you will get a key cut and change back after he is done.

Not a big deal just pull the ignition switch out somewhere on it will be stamped a 3 digit key number should be an 800 series number like 831, 835 etc. Once you have that number you can either get in touch with RSTNICK (he is a member here and a locksmith by trade) or I have used these guys in the past with good success. www.key-men.com/index.html
Ithink it cost me around $20.00 to have them make me a key. There now you can be happy :laugh: .

I went to the locksmith today and had a key made. It cost$3.18. He told me he had made more motorcycle keys than any othey type key.

Your Ignition or seat lock will have the number, 800 series, stamped next to the key hole. Take the number to a Locksmith (maybe call them first) and they should be able to make you a new key.

I removed the switch took it to locksmith and he made a new key cost $15
