Could you explain what an ignition wire is?

The wire going to my fuse box that says ignition. im guessing it's coming from the switch. mainly getting hot around fuse connection.

Since I don't know what type bike is being discussed, I am going to assume glass fuses? The short ones should be used and folks generally try to use longer ones when the short ones are not available... bad fuse connection. The fuse holders are mostly all half-melted in most old fuse boxes and it doesn't do any harm to head down to the auto parts store and buy a new fuse holder that holds blade type fuses. Don't know how many are needed but the main fuse (20A) holder should be rated for at least 20A and that will be the big white wire going to the ignition switch and the other, smaller fuse holders are typically 10A. It should have enough slots to accomodate the same number of fuses as your current box has in it.
