well I set up to do the coil mod on my 82 ltd1000 and while I was preparing to do it I found a wire that the PO must have set up as an auxillary wire. It it used and runs at battery power. I thought, great I can use this to power the coils, but I tested the wire with the bike idleing and the voltage would rise to 14v at high idle and drop to 12v as the idle dropped. my question is, if I power the coils from the starter bolt is the voltage regulated ? would the increased voltage harm my coils ? or would the existing power wire be okay to power the coils ??
