I was looking around and noticed a Dyna S ignition system with the Dyna S coils and wiring for only $193. I own a 1976 KZ900, and first of all, this seems like a hell of a deal, am i wrong in assuming that? I can never tell if I'm looking at the same things exactly, but it seems that these same systems sell for around $300 in most places. Secondly, what is the difference between dual output coils and single-fire ones, would they both work on my bike? Thanks a lot, I'm new and this might be a stupid question.

I am guessing, duel output has two plug wires on it and a single only has one,

About $240 at Z1E ($120 ign + $120 pair coils)
Being new with full 1 year factory warranty.
Would also get relatively inexpensive Dyna spark plug wires (also from Z1E) which have built in caps.

Your KZ900 requires dual output, meaning two spark plug wires from each coil. Left coil fires cylinders 1/4 and right coil fires 2/3.

Good luck whatever you decide. :)

Two single-output coils instead of one dual-output coil may result in uneven current to the plugs. Since one will be firing into a non-compressed cylinder, it will discharge much easier than the firing cylinder. This may put uneven loading on the coils such that the firing cylinder gets less spark energy.

More importantly, if you put the two coils in series, they will only have 6 volts on each one. If you have the coils in parallel, they would overload the Dyna S. Either way is a bad situation.

Hey, thanks for all the info! Yeah i was wrong about the $193 ignition system. From now on I'll just stick with Z1E; they seem to have the best prices anyway. Thanks again, it's much appreciated.
