Are you saying the battery is showing 14 volts with everything off or with it running even with the wires meted together??

I would check the ground wire for the voltage regulator, the regulator tranfers the over voltage from the alternator directly to the ground. If that wire is not making good contact it will send the excess to the battery instead and toast it.

Or, if one of the stator wires gets grounded that will toast the stator. Do the stator tests in the manual and see if that is the problem.

The 1st time I rehooked my stator back into my harness, I didn't plug them in far enough :blush:

...must have shorted to the frame or together, but they fried back to the stator. :whistle:
