Battery drain

I've got a handful of problems on an '82 Kz1000 CSR that I recently picked up, but one at a time:

The battery doesn't hold sufficient charge to start the bike longer than, say, one or two days without being plugged in at night. The guy I bought it from told me the bike "loves a hot battery." He seemed to suggest that this was just a characteristic of the bike, but it seems to me that something's wrong.

Is this a common problem?

Thanks,

-Steve

Hi Steve,

If your charging system is working (14-15V @ 4000rpm) it's time for a new battery.

You may find with a new battery you'll also get better spark!

Remember to keep your new battery charged and watered!
