im not exactly sure what is causing my little problem.

i just got the 650 out a few weeks ago of its new england winter sleep and its actin up on me. at start up the last 3 times ive ran it, i am runnin on 3 cylinders. it runs terrible, and once i pull out of my driveway the last clinder will sputter on and everything will be okay.

i checked the plugs and cleaned them and everything seems to be okay. the bike pulls hard all the way to redline right now. am i dealing with a slightly clogged jet? or could this be my stock points ignition system? any suggestions? ive thought about the coil mod, but really neeed to read how its done, ive just read about results. thanks

Could be a bad connection somewhere from the coil to the spark plug. Either the spark plug cap or wire.

At a guess it sounds like a cold fouled plug. Probably an idea to replace it.

i checked and cleaned the plugs, im going to replace those within the week. but these new england winters r nothing friendly. im goin to run some sea foam through the tank first, since the LAST thing i want to do is take carbs in and out of place with the stock air box and holders

I fought the stock air box once, after a long battle I got it back on.
I then made a run to the bike shop and bought a set of pods

A friend of mine who worked in a bike shop for years says NEVER run any chemical claeners through a diaphram carb!! I think ya should check the rubbers between the carbs & the head for vac leaks. Also as I said on here before, you can pin it right down with an automotive lab scope.

so a recent update....

the bike is cutting out ever so slightly at 7,000+ RPMs. and it is still experiencing the less than 4 cyl initial start-up here and there. i checked the plugs after a ride today and one plug was pretty carbon fouled after cleanin them just the other day. 3 of them looked good though. i believe the carbs r ok due to the great throttle response i get and am really suspect of the plugs. im going to go buy some and test by the end of the week. any other ideas? Thanks for all the responses!

I would change the plugs.. I have a 66 Impala that doesn't get driven and when it sit's for months at a time I almost have to always change the plugs.. Something about sitting for awhile.. When I start it after months, 1-2 plugs won't fire.. The motor is a racing motor and only has 12,000 miles on it.
