while im fixing my headlight that is out i was wondering if anybody has done anything to improve the output of their light. this thing is as good as a lantern out there. i guess the charging systems on this bike arent very good so you shouldnt put higher wattage bulb in there but has anybody gotten results from something else that were worth talking about?

Perform a search. This has been discussed before a couple of times. All the info you need is already in the forums.

If your still using a sealed beam lamp you should change to a H4 conversion. I have one on my 900 and have had no problems. I went so far as putting a PIAA "Super white" bulb in it with an 85w low beam. It was bright enough at night that I could see well even with a tinted visor. Yes the charging system will struggle to keep up. I have gone through the elect syst on my bike and have cleaned up or repaired most of the connections to minimize voltage drop and make the syst more efficient.

Don't use an automobile bulb or it will be burned out whithin a week. This is how it's been in the past anyway. Maybe now discount auto supply bulbs are better? I doubt. They don't hold up to vibration a motorcycle has. Go to a motorcycle dealer and get a headlamp.

The PIAA bulb I used was made for bikes and lasted over a year. I ride alot so thats a long time. The bulb burnt out on the way home and I put in an H4 from a nearby auto parts store. I guess I'll find out how long that one will last.
