I am resurrecting an 83 KZ 440. When I start it, it seems to run smooth for about 10 seconds, then starts backfiring/popping through both carbs. I swapped out the carbs with another set I have. The same thing happens. Both sets of carbs have been cleaned and look fine. I took the ignition cover off and things were pretty rusty from the bike sitting outside. I cleaned everything up, cleaned all connections, put in new plugs but can't seem to figure this one out. The bike has 18,000 kms on it. Is this a timing issue?
