Ok to buy a used Dyna ignition?

I have a chance to get a Dyna ignition used off a 79 650. Anything I should know or look for? I would like to buy new but my bike funds are kinda low as my part time gig is slow.So I'm low and slow! Whats it worth?
:)

Dyna S new from Z1E is $120.

I'm weighing the "used with no warranty but cheaper than new" options lolB)

I think that the only way I would buy a used one is if the engine was just shut off and I pulled it off the rig myself. OTOH, I've bought all sorts of used amateur radio gear with little hesitation.

I would imagine that there is a way to test the pickups without the Dyna unit being installed. Perhaps Jeff could shed some light on that.

I bid on a new one on eBay , but was outbid. It ended up bringing $123.51 plus $13.05 shipping. The seller has another listed as a BIN for $124.95. Z1E is selling them all day long for $120.

I paid $25 on ebay for one while bidding on other items. it was a Dyna III and I have yet to verify if it actually works. Used electronics are always a crapshoot, but at $25 it is worth the risk. It's up to your comfort level when bidding.
