Leaking Intake boot fixes?

Would it be a bad idea to try to seal leaking intake boots with silicone?

you need to make sure whatever you use it can withstand the temps and the fuel. I've used permatex form-a-gasket 2.

I used black RTV on a honda I had a couple of years ago, held up for the entire season, sold the bike- to a local- he knew about the jury rig, to my knowledge he hasn't replaced them.
They aren't exposed to anything but air if I'm not mistaken. RTV takes the heat.

60 bucks for new ones. Hole in piston 10 X 60. New ones are soft and easy to work with. Roy

I dont use anything to seal these. Clean the head surface, put them on, don't take them off until you have a new set to put on in twenty years. They're rubber with a metal plate inside, if you torque them down they'll seal to the minimal pressure they'll see.

seal em, many do some dont, rubber weakens over time, and no a TEMPORARY fix is OK, silicone em if it keeps u on the road for a few weeks, just dont push it, a poor man riding on a budget is OK

The one thing I've noticed over the years is that... Often replacement screws are too long for the upper part of the rubber manifold, causing them to bottom-out. In fact, these upper screws are in a blind hole, unlike the bottom screws and thus, cause you to think you have them tight, allowing an air leak.
