HOLY COW what a difference

Hey guys i met a local fella who is a HUGE kz nut and we got to talking and he offered his services to me to help me get my KZ750 running right.

his collection includes
3xkz1000
2xkz900
1x z1
1xkz400
1x goldwing 1200

anyway, we did a bit of great maintenance on my bike today and yesterday, we got the new style blade fuse box wired up and put in there, no more oversize tubes in an emergency, we raised the needles on my carbs 1 notch and did a full running sync, changed the oil, made sure the timing was spot on, replaced my exhaust gaskets and collars with the correct kz750 collars not kz1000 dremeled down to fit...

overall i cant even believe how amazing the bike is running... crazy smooth idle, perfect crisp revs, amazing midrage gain from the needle move, extremely easy starts...and HOLY CRAP does it pull!

either way its been a fun couple of days and im looking forward to getting on it even more in the spring.
1978 kz650 sr- long time project/first bike mostly gone
1979 kz659 sr- new acquisition NEXT project GONE

Both 650s combined to make one great bike! with a new powerplant

it is a 79 frame, 78 front end, both 78 wheels and brakes, 78 body work and a 80' 750-4 motor with gpz 750 cams and a kerker and...

Congrats on getting her running right! Those 750-4s have excellent power when running properly. Enjoy! Ed

I use to know a guy like that, learned a lot from him.

Now I've got you guys ;)

Cool that your bike is running right, a good tune up can be orgasmic.

Cylinder head porting and velocity? What is it really?

Well it's air flowing through ports at specific speeds and volumes.

The cylinder head can only sit and wait for air to move through it.

The engine can fill the heads ports with full volume...

But if you really want to make power your going to need...

yup.

Even more volume.

Yeah that's great man lots of volume.

But it's pig slow and ...it's cuz the carbs are NOT allowing
the engine to accelerate the volume of air.

Well we do it where the vacuum is highest along with the speed
that each cylinger can reach where lean mix has nothing to
do with the rise in rpm of each cylinder while tuning.

Remember the most power is generated with the amount of fuel that
it takes to generate the most power

It's safe to speculate the unkown here and comfortably agree
that a somewhat richer mixture is going to make more energy.

BIGGER JETS!

False alarm, back in school.

Allowing the air to be pulled into and through the ports

without restriction do to this cyl wants this, that cyl doesn't
want that, you get the ram enertia effect.

Then the almighty cylinder head comes into play.

Well I'm not shutting the door right about the time

the fireworks start. High velocity high voume.
How can you get both? One way is not to shut

the intake valve and let the crotch rocket
slip away into the sun.. :woohoo: Hell no,

you gotta crank to kill!

Well either the bus left long ago and I'm standing
here talking to myself..

or your readin what I'm posting yet again!

My bike isnt as modded as yours sounds but it needs the carbs synced and maybe a going over in some ways. Ive owned it 28 years and am just getting it back on the road. All stock but for 1015 jugs and 29s, runs good but could be alot better with more knowledge than I have LOL
I have seen a couple guys in my area 1 block away that have Kaws but have not met them. Im in the midway of St Paul. Love to get it running great and get in on the relay ride.

Awesome! I'm waiting for my "AHA!" moment in my rookie wrenching. Hopefully it will happen soon, if I had a garage it sure would make things easier! Happy for you

Think this guy wants to go on a quick vacation to Washington ?
