Fresh air pump to carbs.
25 Aug 2011 14:00
I was tuning my carbs in. I had decided to plug off the 2 lines coming down from the fresh air pump to #1 and #4 carbs. I have no clue if this was a bad idea. I have thought about removing and and machining my own plates to block it off. I took it out on the road and from idle I grabbed the throttle hard to see if my hesitation was gone, seemed to be a little better I hit 2nd gear and out of nowhere the bike seem to have gained another 50hp lol. Tire started spinning. I pulled the clutch in and slowed down it acted as if it went lean instantly. I have never had the bike run like that. While the lines were plugged off I had a lot of backfiring. Is it a good idea to remove this pump will it affect the operation of the bike at all ? I would think it may make it run hotter. Any input on this would be great.

Will this cause the bike to run hotter by your knowledge. I would think that the bike would be easier to tune. If I do not get this tuning right I will be going back to stock air box and due away with the pods.

if I plug these will I have to readjust carbs at all. I am wondering if this is why I am not getting the same vacuum readings from carb to carb.
