KZ750 ltd pod jetting
22 Aug 2011 17:12
Hello everyone,
Thanks again to everyone who helped with my last post, get my bike running again. However the intake boots from my airbox will not go back on because they are to old and hard. I have four good pod filters that I can use, my question is what jett sizes/changes/carbe adjustments do I need to get the bike running strong with the pods? Or should I screw the pods and try and find new airbox boots, if so where can I get a set of boots? Couldnt find any on ebay or craigslist.
Best,
B

Get new boots or try to soften the old ones. There are quite a few methods out there, here is one I stole from MFolks
Try this method of softening up dried, rubber parts:
Successfully Resurrecting Old Rubber Parts
(Found on the internet)
This subject has been broached before but I am happy to report success in revitalizing old rubber.
I have been using a mixture of 30% wintergreen oil (methyl salicylate) and 70% xylene to restore old rubber parts and it works beautifully. This is the same ingredients and proportions for the commercial product Rubber Renue according to the MSDS sheets.
Wintergreen oil is analgesic and liniment for aching muscles and found in most drugstores, pharmacies, health food stores and co-ops.
I gently heated rock hard honda CB carb boots with a heat gun for 30 seconds and dropped them into mason jars with my solution for 12 hours at room temperature. They come soft, pliable and looking good. They have been out of solution for 48 hours now and are still soft and pliable. I soaked smaller rubber parts such as side panel grommets and there extremely soft and may need to soak for less time

From you saying you have 4 pod filters I'm assuming you have a 4 cylinder 750. What year ? If like mine and the carbs are keihin CV34s I can give you jetting advice for Pod with a 4->1 exhaust. If you have 750 twin I cnat help.
However new airbox boots from Z1enterprises.com will fix your problem, save you from re jetting and tuning - unless you like tuning - and give you better oomph from takeoff.
If your airbox hoses are not to bad and just hard in parts you can soften them up with a heat gun.... maybe a hairdryer.
Good luck.

Do yourself a big favor and just buy new inlets. They are available.
