so guys, i bought this kz 650 a few months ago for this summers project and didnt get much time to look at the bike other than the nice mac exhaust and quality 2 up seat it had. this last weekend i went home and got my bikes running and checked the new one out and it had aftermarket coils, chrome guage covers, nearly new tires, all covers were in great shape, the original kawasaki tool kit, and most interesting to me, WAAYYY different carbs than i have on my other 650 sr...doing some research, i am nearly positive they are smoothies! how can i be certain??? i have a picture but its on my phone and is crap quality, it has the 17 mm drain plugs on the bottom... thats all i know for id'ing them!

help!!

im pretty stoked about it i paid 150 for the complete bike with clear title
1978 kz650 sr- long time project/first bike mostly gone
1979 kz659 sr- new acquisition NEXT project GONE

Both 650s combined to make one great bike! with a new powerplant

it is a 79 frame, 78 front end, both 78 wheels and brakes, 78 body work and a 80' 750-4 motor with gpz 750 cams and a kerker and...

Some of the early VM28's had the 17mm drain screw as well. Post a picture of the air filter side of the carbs and somebody will be able to identify them.

those float bowls fit pretty much everything from early 28s on z1 900s to 24s off kz650s,26s,newer 28s and 29 smoothbores.
the smoothbores are made of aluminum and weigh next to nothing compared to the regular die cast zinc bodied carbs, got a picture? B)

I'll give you $300 and a stock set of 24 mm carbs that are from a KZ650cc.
100% profit from your investment and a free set of carbs.
What good business investment that would be.
PM me if interested. I'll send you pics of carbs. Carbs still have stock overflow tubes and clear (yellowed vent tubes)

So are these like the holy grail of carbs for some of these old bikes? What size bikes can they be put on?
