I'm guessing that your float bowls came from a set of the VM28's that have an accelerator pump. That's what the spigots are for. There would be little hoses connecting the spigots together, but you won't need them since your carbs don't use an accelerator pump. I would just plug them off.

the bike seems to run fine with them,So just plug them off? Ok maybe trade for cr's.
I did luck out when I found these believe me I looked for a long time.I went from 26 to 28 to bs34 than finally happy with the 29's.
I do have a old set of 28's with the 17mm nut on the float bowls, would they work as well?thanks again

The float bowls with the 17mm drain screw are the correct bowls for smoothbores.

they will fit ...the post is in the same place

hang on to em for sure...29's are getting hard to find and some junky /worn sets are popping up, and they arent easy to spot due to the value rising up up up the last years imo

You are correct. What I meant to say was that the VM29's should have come with 17mm drain screw float bowls when new. They should all interchange. If your 28's have the 17mm screw then they must be early VM28's from a Z1. Those are starting to get valuable as well. The guys doing correct Z1 restorations need them for their bikes.

From carb info at Z1E --

lNote: some very early sets of 29mm smoothbore carbs have a float bowl with a small drain screw angled to the side.

The old 28 bowls look the same but the plugs are a different thread size. Plugs for 28's are very hard to find. They only made those for the first year or so on the early Z1's.

[strike]The carbs in first post are not VM29's... they appear to be 26's or 28's from a KZ1000. All the VM29's had [strike]dual[/strike] single fuel feeds.. Those brass spigots are from the accelerator pump version of the carbs. But the carbs themself don't have the nozzels pointing down the throat of the bore - so it looks like those bowls came from a 79/80 model, where the carbs themselves are probably 77/78 vintage.[/strike]
The float bowls for the VM29's DO NOT interchange with the VM26 or VM28 carbs.
