That Gun kote looks interesting... and I can do it myself from the looks of it. Anyone ever use it on anything or know where I can buy it? I have a spare carb I can try it on before I try it on my working ones.

I know Otakar has on something along with a few others, if you are refering to the Gun Kote product.
Here's the first four Google found for me:

Thanks. I have trouble looking at some pages at work... they see the gun word and the IT police block me...

I'd soda blast the carbs bodies and leave them just raw. Then I'd hard anodize the bowls and top covers. This is what I'll be doing with mine.

Heres a before/after of some parts that I used Gun Kote on, before pics are after media blasting with aluminum oxide/plastic bead mix. The silve parts are silver mixed with titanium, so they are darker than the regular silver color. The balsk parts are satin black:

From the looks of the pan, did you fit them in a smaller oven, like a toaster oven?

Good detective work, the one pan is from my toaster oven. The pan with the calipers is actually a full sized baking pan.
I did them in the regular oven. I think that they would be too close to the heating element in the toaster oven, and that the temp would be too high and too hard to regulate. I think that maintaining the proper temps is important for getting good results with Gun Kote.

Careful with the lemon juice on some carbs... I did it to mine and it took the finish off badly... and everytime you touched them it your hands turnd grey.
