33mm smoothbors

I need some help finding some info on 33s, I would love some guidance on jetting! Like the numbers of the mains and pilot jet. They are 132.5 mains in there now but something aint right. I have a 1075 motor, 435 cams, ported head, 4 into 1 with no bafle, had 29s, it ran strong, but it seamed my port job was going to waste so I thought I would get a little more horse power by putting on the larger 33s. was this the right move? I have heard that the 33s are a headache. I really want to make them work, any help I can get I thank you guys for in advance, Wish they taught this stuff in high school!

What type airbox do you use? You didn't describe the jetting on the 33s. How is the jet needle clipped? What pilot jet? What pilot air jet? How does the bike run with the 33s set up as they are now?

Sorry for not enough info, needles are in third slot, no air box, pods are on it carbs are on bike, will pull off today. but i think the air jet is a #1, if that makes sense. the pilot is pretty large, but I dont no for sure. bike does good until after quarter throttle, then it has a big bog, or flat spot, then it goes hard

The way they are recommended by Mikuni for Kawasaki 1000/1100 is the following
VM33-A14 Main jet= 127.5, air jet= 1.2, Pilot jet= 17.5, jet needle= 6DJ30-4, needle jet= 261 O-6, Throttle valve= 1.5, air screw= .75/out. Now remember that this is just a starting point. There will be other factors at play, such as cams, porting, compression, type of gas used, altitude, etc etc.

Recalling a lot of testing and experimental info being reported. My conclusion was that a very large overbore would be needed to justify the Mikuni Smoothbore 33's and that the 33's were difficult to tune throughout the throttle range.

The .5-.6 air jet seem to help with the "Big gulp" but where does one get them? I have googled and looked on z1.

And knight rider Needs Speling leasons! That why his search didn't come up the way everyone else would spel. (Did i mention i tutor speling for a fee)

They are not stocked by Z1Enterprises but they can get them if you order them. You need to give them a call. The smaller pilot air jets do help with the quote big gulp unquote but won't cure it. The stock pilot air jets are far too large as a starting point. It doesn't make a lot of difference what pilot jet you try... you can use from #17.5 to #27.5 and it will still have the lag. I have tried them all. I would use about a #125 main jet. The jet needle is clipped about right. About 200-300cc more displacement would help. The 33s are a tad large for the 1075 displacement. Try the small air jets...
