So.. one of my diaphragm's has a tear in it. How I don't know, but it does, I've been looking around for a replacement and they seem to be around 100-115 each. But after searching the old site I found a company overseas that seems to be more than half the price. Anyone ever use them?

What gives seems to good to be true. I found a link to them on ibsen's site so I'm sure their reputable?

Give them a try and let us know. Not much first hand feedback. I personally repair small tears regularly on CV vacuum slide diaphragms regularly. Most tears are actually small and caused by pinching of the caps and there isn't material missing... just small and straight rips.

yeah, unfortunatly the tear on mine was at the bottom where it meets the slide. I guess it just wore out, anyway I went to a local Kaw dealer to try and get some of these missing parts.
They were able to get EVERYTHING. I was shocked. And to top it off the diaphragm was only $97.94 I was expecting more.

I'd love to know that myself, since I have a torn diaphragm, and am a poor 'ol Georgia boy just dying to ride.

Glue? Stitch and glue? Tire patch?

I guess I can't blame you for not wanting to give away trade secrets, a guy's gotta make a livin'!

Hi Guys!
New kid here so this is my first post.

From long experience with XS1100 Yammy, we always used a spray-on coating to repair small tears or pin-holes in rubber diaphrams. The stuff you are looking for is at your local NAPA store. The part number is 765-2527 "Plasti Dip Spray-on Heavy Duty Flexible Rubber Coating." Please note that this is NOT my idea; this should be credited to a great guy on the XS11.com forum named Ken Talbot of Revelstoke, BC Canada.

As always YMMV....

I will take time -soon- to update my sig-line with proper info.

I am in Federal Way, WA.

BUMP!!

Do tell, George! What's your recipe?

My buddy hosed his CV34s with carb cleaner... while they were fully assembled. When I took them apart to properly clean them, I saw that a spot on one of the diaphragms had turned to goo. No matter how gently I handled it, the gooey part still fell apart when I was pulling it out of the carb body.

I couldn't repair a carb's diaphragm that had been melted with carb cleaner... it will need to be replaced. I also have a large number of parts diaphragms I use during carb rebuilding in the event the diaphragm isn't repairable.

Right, so what's your recipe for repairing small holes or rips?
