I think I know what you are talking about Prune1. On my 1000 LTD the petcock switch doesn't turn without knocking the carburettor, so I lift the tank a little to give it some clearance, plus I dont use prime anymore since its so much work to move it.

Prune...I'm using this petcock from Z-1 Ent.,and I have 2inches of clearance between the bottom edge of the tank to the bottom of the petcock.
I would snap a pic,but the bike is tucked tight against the garage door right now, with the left side against the door.

Here's a link to the petcock...

just to let everyone know that the Pingle dual outlet does fit very nice with these air cleaners. Its almost as if it were made to tuck right in there. jeff at Z1 hooked me right up.

Had frabricated a simple adaptor with a nipple to replace the petcock,a friend turned one on a lathe ,it looks like a fat washer(around 3/8" thick) with a half inch nipple at the center, drilled 2holes to match the mount screws, had to remove some material on one side to clear the lip of the tank, and used gaskets I cut from a piece of neoprene sheet. I used an in line fuel petcock used for boats, coz it was the cheapest I could find.Used the setup for a few months while I was waiting for a decently priced petcock (new ones are expensive). And still being used now by a friend with tank setup problems.:)
