360° rotating engine stand for my "Z" engines
07 Oct 2025 04:59
"Off-season" is always tinkering time for me:
I want to rebuild my two spare engines this winter. And since I didn't have an engine stand for that,( I´ve sold all my "Z" stuff + "Z"-tools 8 years ago...), I built something myself recently, or rather, I bought a cheap, 360° rotating mobile stand from a Chinese store.
All I had to do was make a suitable adapter, which I milled from aluminum plates and screwed together. Then I used my car jack to help me position the engine. It worked perfectly. - For the other engine, i have build a little roller-stand, just about 1 foot high, to move it easier, or screw on top end. Pictures of this will follow..

Nice work as ever Joe, I had to go the rotisserie route for my "J" motor as it only has one mounting point at the rear

Haarrr! - No, Clay, i think, season is off now for me,..since last friday here is a lot of rain every day, leafs are falling rapidly, ...no way for me to hit the roads longer this year,..maybe it will come a sunny dry day in the next 3 weeks, then..
But normally, october i finished my riding...Phew,...another 5 month to wait....

YOUR stand is a very nice and practicable solution: So you´re able, to fix the engine just on their upper mounts, and be able to split the case while hanging on your stand! Great idea !!Luckily, I was able to rent another garage here, so I finally have more space to tinker

I got a burst of energy Joe!! Tried of seeing this lump in the yard, Can't have a photo in the next "Better Homes and Gardens" with this pile sitting next to a tree. I tried and tried to just give it away, no response. So broke it down to it's elemental components. So now i have two lumps, chassis and an engine.

Where are you located? Still trying to find a home for that frame?
