Pilot needed for my new Neway seat cutters, what size?
07 Jun 2025 12:58
I'd purchased new Neway seat cutters, but looking for some information as to which one is most common used, I'm thinking solid tapered covering 7.00mm to 7.03mm
Does that sound about right? Much thanks!!

I used a 7.00 solid pilot and it worked perfectly for both my KZ750E and a Suzuki GS1000.

You measure the valveguide or the valve stem then find a pilot that fits snug .I have used aluminium tape on a pilot once to increase the diameter and it worked fine .

I bought the CU230 from neway, and a 7.00 to 7.04mm solid pilot from Woodward. I'm gonna put all new guides in whenever I can find the time. Yeah Nessium, I'd read one of your post, said something about the VW world. Man, I had recently inherited my mothers 2006 VW Beetle 1.9 TDI, ...talk about an expensive learning curve. Always old lady driven, then I got it with 63K on it. Never had timing belt replaced, so I did that right away. Then I'd got me a Ross Tech VAG COM which is frickin awesome. Was merging onto the interstate, gave it a little foot feed when it suddenly ran away. Turns out, when the turbo kicked up, it gulped oil that had collected in the intercooler pipe. Bent 3 connecting rods, YIKES! If it didn't have such low milage, it likely would of been to the bone pile. I just got 'er all buttoned up with new bearings and OEM rods, runs like a top. Also, I tapped the lowest point on the intercooler, installed a sheet metal screw with neoprene o ring. I'll drain it at every oil change. It gets 49 mpg!!! If it didn't have such low milage, it likely would of been to the bone pile.
