4-1 pipe design

Just wondering how the length of the pipes before the collector affects power. I see some that are pretty short and merge into the collector as soon as they get under the bike, and on my zx, they dont merge into one untill they are back some distance from the front. are longer pipes (longer before the collector) better for higher revving motors?

My apologies. I have never tried that link myself. It's just one I keep on file sent from a buddy.

Long head pipes = low end torque, short head pipes = top end power.
