OIL DIPSTICK
14 Nov 2006 14:32
Anyone know how to fashion a dipstick for my 1978 kz1000a? the site glass has gotten cloudy and hard to read over the years. Maybe some sort of dipstick i could store under the seat? I had a 75 yamaha that had one on the fill cap, is it supposed to have one on the oil filler cap on the kz?
Thanks.
Thanks.

its really not that hard to pull the case cover off at your next oil change and clean it...thats what I would do rather then fumble with some sort of dipstick..

Third question first, no there isn't a stick for it.
Makes the second one moot and the first one is wouldn't work really.
Like Scumbag said, just replace it and while you have it off you can check for metal or other sludge a bit.
good luck!
