Performance exh wanted
27 Oct 2006 22:49
I realize I should leave well enough alone, but I would really love to find a period type Yoshi or Kerker 4 - 1 or RC eng. pipe for my '78 KZ650 B2. I have seen the avail items from various mfg but they are all a bit outta my $ range (IE dirt poor).
Anyone have nice old pipe hanging around they could spare? I remember seeing these bikes (900's and 650's) running around these parts way back when in mostly stock config save for a pipe. THAT'S the look (and that sound...oooh baby :woohoo: ) I want....stock with a 4-1 pipe.
Thanks in advance,
Ray

If you cant find one and dont want to fork out the ca$h for a new one, try getter something like an older zx600 exhaust, stock they are a 4-1, a guy had one slightly bent (the zx motors arent as wide)to fit his kz650 awhile back, pretty sure hes not a member now(TWT?).

Thanks Scott, I guess I'm attempting to recreate something I saw a million years ago (God it seems like sometimes!) and even though a ZX exhaust would technically fit...it looks kinda...wrong..ya know...on a 95% stock KZ.
The old school megaphone style pipes are mainly what I am after.
Thanks for the thoughts!

Really? No one's got a old header they don't need hanging in some dusty shed? RC Kerker Racer1 VH Alphabet anything from back when would be awesome.
Thanks gang

keep your eyes on ebay, I got my slightly used MAC 4-1 for about 2/3 the price of a new one
just remember the pipes from a kz 650, kz 750 and gpz 750 all interchange, so do searches for all 3 incase the 650 isnt listed in the bikes the pipe fits;)

Spoke, I'm in the same frame of mind but for an 1982 KZ1000 LTD. I can make it fit if it's from a KZ1000 with that year's port sizes... the sound is addictive.
Anyone got an old pipe laying around? Stock bike except for drag bars and a pipe... ok, some K&N's. Sweet!

Spoke.... I have a 4-1 on my GPz750 that I will sell, but the bike is stored in another location, so can't get pics etc till the weekend if interested.
florida...
have a new in box Kerker for KZ1000J, but it's the style with the aluminum can instead of a meg. Of course being new, it's not real cheap

Hi Bob, sorry for not realizing your post til now (duh! dumb sh#t  ) did you get a chance at some pics? I was lucky enough to snag a black Kerker off Ebay last weekend, but it may be beyond hope (rust monster again). I believe the GPz750 is a decendant of my 650 so it should fit
thanks for the offer,
regards, Ray

I think I still have a header in the back yard. i will check later. Remind me cause I tend to forget sometimes. It is pretty rough, dented at the bottom like they hit a bump too hard or something. It would look cool either exhaust wrapped or maybe just painted. If I have it you are welcome to it for the cost of shipping. Can't promise I still have it though.

Bob, I'd still be interested in the header for a fair price and shipping.
Kawtoy, were you talking to Bob or me? Is the header for a 650/750 or a 1000?
thanks for all your efforts.
David

Hi, here is an old school Hooker header from the mid seventies!
It will cost you $2500! But the 73 Z1 comes with it.
Sorry, if this bike does not sell, it will be parted out on ebay.
