would there be any problems swapping heads from a 1980 to a 1977 kz 650? Thanks

Hey Zippoman. You should be ok with the head swap as long as you keep the complete cam chain assembly and tensioner from the '77650's roller chain assembly. Should be just a bolt on job.

got to plug off the emissions from the exhaust side also doesn,t he?
someday i will be able to afford my kz habit.

Use the 1977 650 valve cover and you should be good 2 go.

but won't the exhaust still blow into the cover? does he still have to pipe plug or fill the emission ports that come from the exhaust ports into the clean air-reed valve set-up? i know ape makes a block off plate for this head. i got the same head and i was wondering the same thing.i thought 80 heads had that. can we block them then use our old valve covers?
someday i will be able to afford my kz habit.

I don't know why not, both 77 and 80 KZ650's have a roller cam chain.
