Larry, Kaw didn't slip any of the smaller sprockets in the shaft drive models. All are MK II engines with the 124 tooth cam chain. Can't say the same for the LTD or A models that came out that year...

The shaft and MKII for 1979 used the same setup. The LTD was basically one year behind in all engine upgrades, still using the points ignition and the 1978 spec camchain setup in 1979.
321,000 miles on KZ's that I can remember. Not going to see any more.

And I posted the wrong tooth count this morning....not awake yet I guess...

It's 15 and 16 on the cranks with corresponding 30 and 32 on the cams...

As I recall, and it's been a looooong time now...LTD's up to a certain serial number got the left over small cranks and older style cases plus 26mm carbs with accelerator pumps.
