I have a 750 out of a Spectre that I was going to use the jugs off of on my 650 but was informed they were not compatible. As this is the case I would like to rebuild the 750 to a 810 BB kit and still be able to ride the 650. It has been suggested that I take the crank, rods, etc and put it into the 650 but I would like to avoid doing this if possible. Is it possible to switch this over? If so, what is involved?

It should be possible (I have not tried it), you might be able to swap everything (trans wise) to the 750 including the kickstarter.

You might be able to use just the output shaft (and possibly the cover) off the 650.

I did some comparisons between the 550 shaft drive trans and the GPz750 trans, and it appeared that I could use the GPz750 output shaft to convert the 550 shaft drive trans to chain.

I ended up finding a chain drive 550 trans, so I never did the conversion.

I would know more if the buykawasaki parts diagrams were working :(

You could just get a complete 550 six speed chain drive trans (with cover) and convert it to a six speed chain drive :)

You are going to have to split the cases anyway you go about it.
