I have a leak in the front of my engine and it leaks everytime I start up the bike but it isn't too bad, and its only in front of the bike right under the head. Could this be a need of a new head gasket, or incorrect head torque on the head bolts, not tight enough( I didnt use a torque wrench, shame on me)? 78 kz650sr

Try checking the area around where the tach cable goes into the block. Mine wasn't leaking too bad, but after a long ride to work my pants had black spots all over them. It took two pairs of nice pants to finally figure it out.

I agree, the tach drive is the first thing I'd look at.
Been there done that!

That used to leak oil when I got it so I made a silicone ring inside the connector piece to seal that so I illiminated that problem. I will try torquing the head and see. Would the internal head bolts be a problem also?
