I finally got the 1100 home a little while ago. Pulled the plugs and squirted a little marvel oil in the cyl.s and proceeded to check and see why it wouldn't turn over for the guy I bought it from. I hooked the battery charger up, hit the starter button and got a kinda whirling sound. Hmmm sounds kinda like maybe low voltage and I wasjust using a little 6 amp charger and 10 year old battery. I'm thinking, jumper cables to the truck. I started to unhook the charger and noticed the positive cable moved.It turns out both battery cables were LOOOOOOSE!! I thought...surely that can't be it. Tightened them up,hooked the charger up, hit the starter and she cranked! She also squirted the marvel oil all over me. OOOOPS forgot about that. OK I can't stand it. I GOTTA put the plugs back in and see if she will start. I pulled the air filter, gave her a shot of carb cleaner, hit the button and she started immediately![insert picture of HAPPY CAMPER here]. I will clean the carbs tomorrow and put some fresh gas in the tank and maybe give her a short test drive.

Thats awsome, funny how the little things can get the best of some people. I have bought a few projects that were that simple to get moving again.

Nice story...and the "basics" seem to have triumphed again.

$700.00 BUT I spent another $90 today on new plugs, carb cleaner, battery,fuel filter, etc. So far I'm happy. I just hope the transmission is OK. I haven't got that far yet.

That's a very nice looking old Spectre. Sounds to me like you got a steal. What kind of miles are on her?
