just some questions

Hi I finaly getting my 78 KZ1000 tomorrow and need to know what all I sould do to get it running with out hurting it it looks like it has been awhile since it been ran and other that taking the plugs off and squirt some oil in the cylinders what els sould I do?

check oil,if it looks too nasty go ahead and change oil.change gas,check plugs.if its been sitting a long time i would pull plug wires and crank motor over a few times to get a little oil to top of motor before you start it.

If it hasn't run in a while I would pull the plugs and put in some marvell mystery oil and squirt some penetrating oil in the cylinders,then change the oil, pull the air filter and check for critters, get a new battery,plugs, turn it over without the plugs in(after the oil in the cylinders has set a while)and bring up the oil pressure,check carbs to see that they move, lube all the cables(from top to bottom) work them a bit to free up the bind, oil the chain, change the gasoline at the same time check the petcock, gas and vacume lines,put in new plugs and check points(if it has them) now see if it runs

Thanks for all the advice now I got to get a motorcycle licens but I do know how to ride and it not hitting the road untill I get it .:whistle: :whistle:

I would also check the brake pads and change the brake fluid.

Oh, yeah, you also might want to check the valve clearances after you get her running.

get it running first before you get carried away with the rest of bike,one fiasco at a time i always say!
