I have used kick start only for the last 18 years. 1229cc @ 10.5 to 1 compression. Oh yea, it does kick back on occasion. That's not a pretty sight. My old engine builder always removed all of the starter parts, even the starter clutch and drive gear. I am finally going to reinstall the electric starter though. I guess I'm getting old! :ohmy: :( It's really not bad though to kick only. That was the worst thing about the '81 J model...no more kickstart. :angry:

KZ750B bad starter clutch, kick it always now, I heard the starter clutch parts from a 650 will work in it anybody know for sure, I have 3 650 engines laying around, someday I'll fix it I guess

My 650 kicks easily enough. Not long ago I flooded it and ran the battery down after a few minutes. Flipped out the kicker and it fired on the second kick. I think they all should have one.
