Cylinder head
19 Aug 2026 13:29
I contacted somebody in Oregon and they're willing to do new valve guides and seals which shipping both ways coming out to about $450
my question is before I took the bike apart it didn't smoke at all I'm thinking maybe I didn't put the Rings incorrectly, or I didn't get them maybe the Gap is too tight or too loose I don't know I don't think it'll be too loose I'm thinking about redoing that and checking it with the feeler gauge
so I'm thinking about guys are good and the valves are good I'm thinking I just really need to get it resurfaced also another question I took the shins out all the exhausts were I think 25.5 and all the intakes for 25.6 so I'm thinking I'd better wait until I get it put back together and check it then but the main question should I send it out for $450 for new valve guys and seals when they've never smoked before

There is no magic involved with replacing seals which is worthwhile if the head is off, guides won’t cause smoke if the seals are good. How long was it back together and how much smoke ? Also what colour is the smoke ?

I gave you a video once before when it was smoking you said it'll go away it did reduce from the assembly Lube but never completely went away, the two right cylinders three and four I don't know which one maybe it was one maybe it was both since it's one place you can't tell exactly smokes a lot more than the left side.
now I did notice that there was black material stuck to the bottom of the head from the head gasket it could have been a cheap ass head gasket from Z1 I'm thinking it could have leaked from a port Maybe I also put a little form of gasket for oil high temp around the O-ring because that's why I took it apart.
so I'm thinking then it has to be a bad seal and oil was somehow leaking I'm also thinking if I didn't make sure the Gap was a certain amount what if it was too tight with the Rings couldn't that suck oil on the downstroke into the chamber I don't know I'm guessing I want to see if I can find the video and upload it again
