Hole in case?

Hole in case?

I was adjusting my 1975 Z1 carbs and near the starter I see this hole in the case. I don't remember seeing this hole before, can anyone enlighten me? Is something broken?

Thanks for responding. That photo is the head. The location of this hole I'm talking about is in the case not the cylinder head, right next to the starter. It doesn't look like a drain hole
