650/750 engine in Z1 frame?
Hi,
I found a Rickman frame Z1 without engine for sale and i have bunch of Z650/750 engines…
Would it fit with adapters? I don’t want to cut the frame.

The "engine conversion specialists" here can certainly tell you that... If I were you, I would get a Z1000 A1 or A2 engine for the Rickman frame (they aren't as expensive as the 900cc Z1 engines, and they fit just like a 900cc engine; the dimensions are exactly the same).........Unless you enjoy challenges and are looking for the fun of remodeling...
Greetings, Joe

I'm with Joe. Why not drop in a 1000 - it fits perfectly and you'll have some extra power. More if you hotrod the 1000 with a little more compression!

I did the exact opposite and put a Z1 engine in a 650 frame without major alterations so I would say yes its probably going to work.

If you read thru my build thread all the frame mock up is explained in detail.
The 650/750 engine is not as tall so there would be extra room at the top of the cam cover. Its much easier to do the mock up with empty cases/head/barrels, that is what I did. For mine I just sat the cases as low as possible then started looking at the motor mount points.

Try and keep as straight a line as possible from the rear axle, through the swingarm pivot to the gearbox sprocket

Yes a 1000 would make sense but to race it it needs to be a Z1 or 650/750 engine.
Can the 650/750 engine be longer because of the extra shaft between the crank and gearbox?

The secondary shaft between the crank and gearbox. Chain driven from the crank and drives the clutch basket.
On Z1 engines the clutch basket drives directly on the crank.

Thanks. And nice build.
Looks like the length is similar but like you say I would have more space upwards and could probably rotate the engine to fit.
