Bad oil leak

1982 1100 Spectre. I just changed the oil pan gasket and all o-rings that go with it. There was so much oil and gunk caked up around that area that I thought for sure that was my oil leak. But I just took the bike out for a spin and something is leaking terribly from the left side of the engine, just next to the gear selector. It’s dripping all over the frame rail and spraying everywhere. I’ll see if I can post some pictures. I can’t really tell where it’s coming from. Has anyone seen this before?

This alternator grommet is what you'll be-a needing, super common issue. Early style stator shown but grommet remains the same. Yours will have 3 male/female connectors within a couple inches which is different then the early ones where you had to pull the whole wiring harness out. Have a new "latest style" cover gasket at your disposal, they are metallic but graphite coated. This is NOT a separate Kawasaki part and available ONLY with the sold stator assembly thru Kawasaki. But they are available as aftermarket in a lot of places. Hopefully you have some semblance of soldering/crimping skills?

Another common leak spot is the gear selector shaft seal. It is a cheap and easy fix.

Absolutely True Texas but you can see his issue is from the stator grommet in this case. Oil is blowing back as he cruises down thru the hood looking for cheap lovin" ha.

Remove the bevel gearcase cover and you will have a much easier time finding the leak source.

Check the clutch release seal as well.  Usually find oil residue on the cable attachment bracket when it's bad.
