Hi where do the cylinder/barrel damper rubber blocks/plugs go on 1977 Z1000? Part number 92074-030 parts book says there's 8, l can only find 4 holes on bottom of cylinder which would sit on the base gasket when fitted, Mk2 parts book says there is only 4?

There are only 4 plugs and they go on the front of the barrel. Below is a picture of my 1978 barrel after I removed the sleeves.

Those get real important to seal off the base gasket when installing larger sleeves to avoid leaks due to minimal clamping area (1200cc kit)

One has to realize 1977 KZ1000 was sort of a split year. Same 1015cc Not the later 1013L. But the early 1977 could of very well used 8 of those damper plugs. One shown is of a 1976 KZ900 and it has 8 as well as all the Z's. Great "lightening round" proper restoration     quiz question, ha.

Probably the reason behind some of the Z1 903 barrels leaking when sleeved to accept 1200cc pistons. My boring guy said some 903 barrels would work and others not, safer to use 1015 barrel. I believe the main issue was the amount of material around the sleeve, but those extra open holes don't help.

I have one of those 903 barrels that has been sleeved for a 1200cc kit, there is epoxy on the front of the barrel.
