little, or maore, engine issues while runnning on driving...
10 Jul 2025 09:58
From time to time, sometimes during the same trip after a restart, or quite suddenly while driving, my engine would run a little "slightly stuttering." At higher revs, the problem usually disappeared, or sometimes wasn't present at all, or suddenly returned unexpectedly...
I checked everything over and over again: valve clearance, compression, contacts, ignition timing, float level in the carbs, choke plungers, mixture adjustment, synchronization,... Everything was good to perfect, but spark plug number 3 was always slightly sooty, and yesterday, after an infrared temperature check, I noticed slight deviations in relation to the other cylinders. Cylinder 7 header nr. 3 was about 8-10°C "colder"...a sign that somthing was foul about the constandly firing i´ve assumed..
My idea was a failure in the 2 +3 coil,..but only on one wire ??? Hmmmm,...Than bye the change of the coil, disengage the plug-coonector, the problem was visable by looking deep into the NGK connector: The "needle-threated-srew-into the wire" was loose, moveable,...clkear as a blue sky. No permanent contact by firing!!!
New ankle- NGK-connector, problem solved,..sometimes it is sooo easy, and you run intor other perspectives....!! Worsed case is alway an not permanent issue!!!
Have ya all a troublefree bike season !!!

Uncontrolled fuel sloshes. Try some New Mikuni Float/Needle sets. Or when braking the contents of the bowl move foreward into the path of the choke causing a slight over-rich condition. And BTW, Hello Joe!!

Hi Clay,
No, in this case, the spark plug connector was really the problem! There were repeated short, or sometimes longer, periods where no permanent spark reached the plug. This prevented the plug from reaching its operating temperature, which resulted in poor combustion. The result was a "dry," blackened plug and occasional sputtering during engine operation.
...And it was a problem to recognize it, because the error was not permanent, but only occurred aperiodically and intermittently...Thoose partly fairlures or part-time malefunctions a mostly hard to find and solve...and often is it a very simple problem you don´t see it at first.....it´s like a crack in a wire you don´t know about or see: Not a real short, but parttime contact-problems malefunctions...
Anyway, now it´s all okay...
