Ticking noise

I’m hoping someone can put my mind to ease!  I have fairly faint ticking noise that is driving me crazy!  It seemed to just start one day.  I’ve synced carbs, adjusted valves, adjusted manual cam chain tensioner and changed exhaust gaskets.  I can’t pinpoint exactly where it is coming from either.  New plugs and wires and plugs look good (no detonation).  Doesn’t smoke and has great compression on all cylinders.  I went for about a 100 mile ride the other day and it seemed to have stopped but if I go for shorter rides it seems like it’s still there. Bike runs great, it’s just a very annoying sound and I’m worried it might be something bad.  I hope the video is good enough. Thank you!

I suggest you get a automotive stethoscope and start poking around on the cases/head to try and pinpoint the location of where the sound is originating.

That sounds camshaft, bucket, valve related to me.

Thanks for the reply, that was actually my next plan of action.  I tried using a long screw driver but haven’t found anything.  Maybe the stethoscope will work better!

Ticking  is a pain sometimes to locate
Try and determine if it is at crank ( Tach ) RPM
or at Camshaft RPM
One of the hardest to find in my past experience  was a  transmission bearing behind the clutch
Good Luck

The only ticking I could hear seemed very inconsistant. In my opinion it doesn't rise to the action needed level.
A lesson I just learned about my 1100 spectre is to leave the choke off for the first few cranks, until I see the oil pressure light go out. Then apply the choke to let it start. It's much quieter sooner.
Your situation is likely very different but it's what came to mind.

Thanks Bill!  Yes it is very inconsistent, and unfortunately my oil pressure switch does not work. Ive just been kinda just hoping it isn’t an oil pressure issue.  There has been oil in camchest when I’ve opened it up though.
