1987 KZ305 Left and Right engine cover torque settings

Hi All,

I am about done with the oil blanking plug modification on the KZ305B2 LTD. I will post my pics in that thread.

I bought new bolts from Z1enterprises for the left and right covers. The old JIS ones needed an impact drill to get off.

The manual on pg274 only says to tighten them securely:
Installation: Install a new right engine cover gasket.
Make sure that the two knock pins are in place, and fit the right engine cover on the crankcase.
Insert the screws (14) and tighten them securely.

Anyone have an idea what securely is in inch/pounds or foot/pounds?

Use a small allen head wrench and tighten snuggly by hand.  I would not use a torque wrench, that's a great way to strip the threads in the engine, because people with a torque wrench often turn off their brain and just crank away.  

Securely is using your god given torque wrench. Use you feel and a short handled spanner/rachet.
40 year old ally threads and new steel bolts will easily strip the threads. Becareful and use your judgement.
