1000J Pistons

Does anyone make any higher than stock compression pistons for the 1000J motor that are stock bore or just slightly oversize rather than the 72mm that MTC/Wiseco/JE offer?

Situation just got a bit more complex.  I  am working with a set of jugs that came from evilbay and appear measure to be standard bore and in quite good condition. So we checked my "old" pistons and they were made by ART who is apparently a large supplier in Japan that are 1mm OS.  A quick(quite unknowing where to look) didn't show that any new rings would be available as the pistons are in excellent condition.  The rings measure 1.0,1.2.2.5 and the pistons have a 100 stamped on the top. Any suggestions  for new rings would be appreciated.

ART are the OEM Kawasaki pistons.
You need Genuine Kawasaki oversize rings.

There is a supplier in the UK listing these (don't know how many he has but there is an OEM part number) IMD only list +0.5mm

Thanks Wookie, questioned the supplier and they said they were correct, so the rings are on the way..  Two questions as my local machinist whom I trust is not primarily a bike guy.  First what is the recommended piston to cylinder wall clearance?  Secondly, can we  resurface the top of the jug set and how much?

Specs are in the factory manual, available for free download here, in Filebase.  Be sure to follow the specs to gap the rings also.

Regarding resurfacing, yes, you can do that.  Cut minimum amount necessary to clean up the surfaces(s)

Stock piston to bore clearance  is 0.043 - 0.070 mm .
The blocks head gasket surface can be skimmed but check the current height of the pistons in the bores.
As stock they are usually below zero deck height due to manufacturing tolerances with plenty of scope for skimming.
Unless it's a very light skim to clean minor imperfections or level the tops of replacement liners you will likely have to dry assemble the rebored block with a base gasket and one piston fitted and bolt it down with spacers as a substitute for the head and then measure the distance between the piston at TDC and the deck surface to assess how much material can be removed .
Ideally you would want zero deck height to acheive the factory blueprint specifications for compression figures.
