Engine serial # question

Not totally sure how yo use the model recognition document regarding engine serial number so I'll ask the following question.
My 1984 750L4 have engine # KZ750EE097062.
From what I saw in the recognition document, engine # should be 128101+. If so, where does my engine 097062 comes from?

Please enlight me on how to check this in the manual.
Thanks!

The 1983 models began with 093001, so my guess would be that your engine is a 1983. What is the date of manufacture on the frame? All of he factory manuals I have seen have that information on the back cover.

Frame # is JKAKZDL18EA017330
which, as per the back of the manual (thanks for the hint!), makes it a 1984 KZ750L4 (1984s begins with 17201).

This being said, I can't read the manufacturing date as the frame have already been painted... in red... which is awful to my eyes.
What's the best way to clean up the front area? I would think liquid paint stripper to be better than sanding off the red paint.

NB: I intend to have the frame, swingarm, etc. powder painted back to black. What's closest to OEM finish: semi-gloss or gloss?
